Red really makes me think of Sue Sylvester because it conveys emotional intensity, risk, power and confrontation. Lets face it red Adidas tracksuits will be forever associated with her. Although there have been some memorable moments with Emma dressed in red we're still waiting for the most memorable of all to happen!
Red symbolises: Truth, strength, confidence, courage, excitement, desire, danger, power, passion, love, lust, sex, aggression, heat, fire, energy, spontaneity, determination.
Being the color of physical movement, red awakens our physical life force. It is the color of sexuality and can stimulate deeper and more intimate passions in us, such as love and sex on the positive side...
Promoting celibacy, but isn't that a red skirt you're hiding under the desk?
Foreplay shall begin at 7.30 sharp!
Or revenge and anger on the negative...
Red is often used to express love, but love is expressed more fully with pink, however red and white together make pink so wearing red and white is in a sense saying I love you!
Red indicates Emma's confidence, determination and her sense of power.
Finding the confidence to confront her OCD
Directing the musical
Gaining power from Madonna
Determined not to get dragged down by Terri.
Coming back after the relapse
Red shoes that hint at Emma's desire to break free from the controls of her mind and let her passion out. Here she joins Brittany and the girls singing 'Girls Run the World'.
The Color Red Represents:
Energy: Red boosts our physical energy levels, increases our heart rate and blood pressure and prompts the release of adrenalin; and Action: it is fast moving and promotes a need for action and movement.
Emma and Will become a 'Sue Saving Team' and break into Sue's bedroom
Variations of The Color Red:
Scarlet: has a little orange mixed with it, giving it a richness and brightness. It indicates enthusiasm and a love of life. It is a little less intense and more fun-loving than true red, tempered with a degree of defiance.
Happy to be sharing an evening out with Will supporting the Glee Club but angered by nearly getting run over by April and Will's lack of action in the matter.
Fun loving but still defying.
Emma doesn't want to marry Ken but neither does she want to spend her life alone. In this scene perhaps the scarlet skirt is to give her confidence and defiance as she sets the boundaries for Ken.
