Symbolises: Happiness, enthusiasm, positive thinking, optimism, mind and intellect, communication and new ideas.
Season 1
Effects of Yellow: Creative, quick decisions, anxiety producing, critical of self and others, non-emotional (ie head rules heart).
I wonder if Emma's house is entirely yellow? She makes quick decisions eg. dating and agreeing to marry Ken, dating and marrying Carl. Her OCD is indicative of her high levels of anxiety, she is critical of herself eg. 'I feel so ashamed' 'You have a point' (to Sue's comments about her walking like her feet are bound) and she lets her head rule her heart ALL THE TIME which is why the Wemma journey has taken so infuriatingly LONG.
Emma wears an abundance of yellow clothing and here is the irony - yellow represents the expression of ideas and clear communication and Emma and Will's whole journey has floundered because of such POOR communication (thank you RIB/Lou Eyrich for your wit). However, she is a clear communicator when acting in an advisory/counselling capacity.
Let's move on to what yellow predominantly symbolises: happiness
Season 1
Emma wears yellow chatting to Will, watching Will perform, eating lunch with Will, judging with Will, having her school photo taken after she finds out Terri was pretending to be pregnant, dating Will and fighting for Will.
Conclusion: Emma is only truly happy when she is doing something with or for Will.
For further analysis on the significance of Will's blue shirts on the ocassions Emma is in yellow, pop on over to the post about the colour blue.
Now let’s look at the times Emma wore yellow in Season 2:
Early days with Carl…even if the shippers weren’t happy about it, Emma was.
And then not one single ray of sunshine until surprise, surprise, Emma starts talking to Will again and we spot some yellow polka dots peeping out in 'Blame it on the Alcohol' followed by an entire yellow cardigan when she bumps into him later in the episode.
Conclusion: in 22 episodes this is the only yellow clothing that appeared, compare this amount with just the first three episodes of Season 3. As we all know, for most of Season 2 Emma was unhappy. Like us.
In the first three episodes of Season 3 Emma has barely been out of the yellow section of her wardrobe.
Conclusion: Will, Emma’s happiness and the colour yellow are synonymous. Being with Will makes her VERY HAPPY. It makes the Wemma shippers very happy too. Hope you’re all wearing yellow in celebration.
