Emma Pillsbury’s clothes and Colour Psychology:Orange

Orange represents:

Adventure, risk taking, confidence, uninhibited, independence, communication and conversation, optimism, vitality, frees the spirit of limitations, intuitive rather than physical (red) or mental (yellow) reaction, offers emotional strength in times of disappointment or despair.

Shades of orange: peach, apricot, terracotta, gold, amber, burnt orange, dark orange,

Emma dresses in orange or shades of it, only on the odd occasion which isn’t surprising given that she’s everything orange is not! It’s the colour of choice for counseling and opening the lines of communication between people:

From the very beginning, a splash of orange accessory  (necklace and tie) encouraged easy conversation between Will and Emma.

It came in most useful when Emma started dating Ken but was trying to keep the lines of communication open between herself and Will. 'Is it ok, me unloading on you like this?' (or words to that effect).

Asking Will to give her a reason not to marry Ken.

And when Will invites Emma to help him clear up Rachel's  crush.

Counselling Rachel again.

Preventing Sue-icide

Emma takes a risk entering Sue's office so she goes for the orange accessories to boost her confidence when confronting Sue about her ideas on God and religion.

All in orange, delivering the message that Henri has downed one too many bottles of cough medicine. She encourages Will not to give up. She is his symbol of vitality and emotional strength in a time of disappointment.

Next up: Brown/beige and all of it's affiliated shades.
